Statement From the NCBLCMHC Executive Board: Coverage of Marriage and Family Therapist Services and Mental Health Counselor Services Under Part B of the Medicare Program
On December 29, 2022, President Biden signed “H.R.2617 – Consolidated Appropriations Act, 2023” into law, also known as” Public Law No: 117-328.” Section 4121, entitled “Coverage of marriage and family therapist services and mental health counselor services under part B of the Medicare program,” establishes Medicare coverage for services provided by marriage and family therapists and licensed professional/clinical mental health counselors effective January 1, 2024.
